Growing up in Alaska, I saw Carhartt all around me. For some reason, I didn't get a jacket until last year, when I was in Boston. I love it; it's one of the best purchases I've made. Now I'm not a fisherman or a wildland firefighter like I was back in AK-- I'm just a normal student in law school. But it gets cold out here on the East Coast sometimes, and I'm glad I have the coat. I wore it to Obama's inauguration in January too, so here's the photo.

Though I've been "retired" from my main business since 2001, that hasn't stopped me from becoming a working fool since moving to Colorado. My jobs have included wholesaling vehicles and attending auctions, cleaning up our property and building not one but two horse facilities from the ground up since we moved here. I wear Carhartt clothing because I know it can handle the wear and tear of my work environment, from hauling hay to building pipe fences or digging ditches. Some of our new place construction happens in the winter, so I'm thankful that the Carhartt jackets keep me warm as well, without getting in the way as I'm working. I'm 72 years old right now, and rearing to go in my Carhartt clothes! Hopefully, I'll be able to decrease my workload in a year or two, but the Carhartt clothes won't have that opportunity, as they'll keep working for me in those days too!

The toughest horse race in the world (The Tevis Cup) runs over 100 miles of back country trail from Lake Tahoe, California to Auburn, California. The trail is tough, rocky, dusty and dirty. Horses need the ultimate in hoof protection to complete the trek and the process of applying these Easyboots for the 100 mile journey is messy and abrasive on clothing.
Before the 2009 Tevis Cup event we applied over 90 Easyboot glue-on hoof boots. The process is quick but the adhesives are messy. Each time I start the glue-on process I reach for my Carhartt pants. The pants keep me clean and protect me from the hoof knives and rasp. Because of my signature Carhartt/glue pants I've noticed others turning to Carhartt.
Awesome product. Keep up the good work.

I have a tough job. I always have; weather it was concrete construction for a comercial foundation outfit in Boston, or land surveying , or working as a federal sharpshooter on National wildlife refuges I have always worn carharts, especialy the double tough jeans with the two layered front. It is my trademark, I've had many girlfriends that tell me they look great on me too, Ill even wear a clean pair to a sport coat deal.
I know work as a Wetlands Identification Specialist and have for many years, its good outdoor work and it keeps me in the swamp constantly. I have covered more off road territory on foot for work than anybody I know even in Massachusetts which trust me has plenty of swamps. My job is to walk the wetlands boundary running a hand operated auger every 50 100 feet testing for hydric soils. Needless to say it is tough and muddy almost every day. If the bugs and ticks dont git ya the poison ivy will. I totally depend on the rugged clothing, pants shirts and jackets you make, I have used them all and worn many right down to rags (no kidding). Five years ago an errant swing of the machette shattered my kneecap, if I hadn't had two pair of long johns AND the double layered tin-cloth jeans you make it would have been really bad.. I DO NOT compromise on quality and you guys keep very good stuff amazingly affordable, tough and good looking.
My name is Lloyd Brown and I'm from Miami, FL.
I wear a lot of hats. My paying job is firefighter for Miami-Dade Fire Rescue. But my real passion is rescuing animals. I get sent all over the world to work in areas that have been hit with disasters to rescue animals there. In the field, I wear carhartts! I see the less experienced people showing up trying to look cool in BDU's or some kind of official looking outfit that gets ripped to shreds in the dangerous environments in which we work. I also teach classes for the Humane Society of the United States for people who want to respond to disasters. I tell my students Carhartts are the only thing they'll see me wearing and if they want to impress me, that's what I'll see them wearing when they show up to help us out at a disaster.
I have used them in South Africa, El Salvador. Costa Rica, hurricanes Chalrey, Francis, Ivan and Jeanne in Florida in 2004, hurricanes Katrina and Wilma in 2005 Hurricane Ike in Texas last year and the Fargo, North Dakota floods this past year.
In this picture, I am helping to care for a baby elephant in Sri Lanka in February of 2005 after the Indian Ocean tsunami.
Thanks for making such a great product!

Basically an arborist is one who cares for tree's within an urban environment.
This involves for the worker exposure to the elements of weather, noise, petrol and oil, chainsaw's and general rough wear on clothing etc etc.
In my experience carhartt work wear is exceptional in all fields except one.
Chainsaw protection a.k.a kevlar clothing.
have you ever considered chainsaw pants as an item for production?
Being an industry as big as arboriculture and forestry i am surprised to find you dont make them?
Ryan

Bridge Inspection is not very well known professional, We have to climb on Long span suspension bridge. Here in New York City which is one of the cities with the most suspension bridges, like the brooklyn bridge, verezano, and Throgs Neck Bridge. But Carhartt work gear hold up to the change!!

My Tough Job is as a 17th Century Interpretive Artisan. I work for the Interpretive Artisan Department at Plimoth Plantation and the five of us build and maintain the 1627 recreation of the first Plymouth Colony. My day can consist of pit sawing boards, hewing posts, riving clapboards, gathering thatch, and daubing walls all in order to represent traditional 17th century skills and practices. We pride ourselves on producing an authentic representation of the true 17th century village through our labor and doing so while in period correct attire. Yes that consists of wool, canvas and linen. But during our off season, from December to March, we continue the work but do so in our Carhartt's. Oh how I wish Carhartt's were around back then...sooo much more comfortable.
My name is Ed Sullivan and I'm from Golden Valley, AZ.
I was 18yrs old and had a job at a feed mill that bagged feed for dairy cows. I purchased a pair of carhartt duck jeans. I still have those jeans{size 28w} with no holes. The problem is they are a bit small for my 38inch waist. I am 72yrs old now and still wear a carhartt coat and bib jeans. Carhartts are the best.

Dear Carhartt,
I am writing to tell you that you guys make the best products ever! Years ago, when I started as an apprentice in the Electrical Industry, I was working on a project during the winter. We were constructing a facility for Dole at the State Port in Gulfport, Mississippi. It was a really cold winter for South Mississippi, and the temperature, combined with the winter humidity and the wind blowing off the Gulf made it really miserable. Back then I made very little money, and all the Journeymen were decked out and warm in their Carhartt gear. Right then I told myself that as soon as I could afford it I "WOULD WEAR" Carhartt too! Now, 14 years later, Not only do I wear Carhartt on the job, but it's the only jean you'll find in my drawers at home. I Love your Jackets, shirt-Jacs, Shirts, T-shirts, caps, fleece skull caps that fit under my hard hat, pretty much anything you make. I especially love your dungarees, which is all I wear at work. In the summer I wear the 11.75 oz., and in the winter I wear the 15 oz. as well as flannel and fleece lined. I am always getting comments about wearing your products, and tell my co-workers that they're crazy to wear anything else! I want to thank you guys for expanding your line of products, and I plan on having my wife hooked on your women's line real soon. Carhartt products are the very best I have ever owned. They fit great, feel great to wear, and they envoke a sense of pride to me that when people see me wearing your products they know I am a "Working" man, which I am extremely proud of! Ever since that moment a long time ago, when I only dreamed of wearing Carhartt, I now realize my dream has come true! Hard Work, Determination, and being fortunate enough to wear Rugged and Long Lasting Carhartt Products have made me the Successful Man I am Today!!

Raw sewage, man-hole lids and flying rocks are the main hazards of my occupation. Although I like to tell my buddies that "I could get stabbed wearing my Carhartt coat and the shank wouldn't even break through."
My name is Bo Klevgard and I'm from Mellen Wisconsin.

I am writing this story for my husband, a 33 year railroad conductor (not one who takes tickets) veteran of literally working the RAILS.
We live in the Far White Northern Most Part of NY State, on the St. Lawrence River, bordering the Provinces of Ontario and Quebec, Canada.
Jim's duties included requiring him to work more than 12 hrs. a day, climbing the trains and also switching rr cars, while walking many many miles at a time on the rough RR beds. Sometimes in the extreme heat, high 90's-100's or the frigid cold ,sometimes 40* below zero climate. While Walking on rough rocky surfaces, trudging through 3' snow mounds, or on the rails themselves, he always had his "trusty brown" Carhartt Jacket on (coat, he called it). This Carhartt was part of his survival "gear". It was like a Bullet-proof vest is to a Policeman.
He would always try to preserve it by covering it with a coverall. The rails produced grease and grime which covered his precious protective Carhartt garment. He would wear one Carhartt at a time, until it was only beige colored and steaked white from laundering and when the last its' of warmth was exhumed.
The washing only made the jacket more treasured. Before washing, I loved to hold the coat and smell his scent on the flannel fabric lining and revel in his enduring week's work that was right there in my hands.
The first time I met him, he was wearing that Carhartt after a days work. I was imediately drawn not only to his good looks but to the rugged strength the Carhartt Coat and hat gave him.
Another example of the " Carhartt Effect" on our family, was that my Ivy League College son, would take (more like sneak)the old, worn-out faded Carhartts back to campus w/him. Once there, his fraternity brothers, friends, and even the sorority girls would ask him to bring other discarded Carhartts back w/him the next trip. His girlfriend was studying to be a "fashion designer" and was one of the biggest fans of these lovingly worn Carhartts.
Besides the ones confiscated, I believe we still have the rest. There is one in the "Good Coat" Closet, the Mudroom, Garage and Workshop/Barn. Each worn and kept for the appropriate task to come, even if it is just dog-walking.
My name is Chad Zubal and I'm from Youngstown, Ohio.
I am a member of the Youngstown Police Department's Vice Squad. I have been wearing Carhartt at work for years due to my plain clothes assignment. Over the years I have discovered that Carhartt is the only brand that survives the daily wear and tear. On July 1st, 2005 I survived a shootout with 4 heavily armed gang members in a stolen car. That day my favorite Carhartt jeans became my lucky Carhartt jeans. My current favorite has to be my moss green Carhartt winter coat with hood. Of course I have the matching green Carhartt stocking cap. Youngstown winters can get pretty cold. I got the coat big, so it can fit over my tactical vest and gunbelt for concealment.People (cops and suspects alike) often say i look like a Carhartt billboard. Thank you Carhartt for making an excellent product.
My name is Adam and I'm from Wellington Ohio.
I wear carhart everything. My pants hold up from not staining or ripping while in the parlor. My heavy coat and gloves make it great to go outside in the middle of winter. The might be ice growing on my gloves from dumping calves waters but my hands r so warm they sweat. I have never found anything to hold up like the way my carharts do. My local retailer knows when i walk in i want carharts and nothin else.

My "Tough Job," is being a full time dairy farmer on my parents dairy farm. It is a family owned and opereated farm. My day starts out at 4:30 a.m. in the morning. We are milking 80 holsteins, we raise about 160 head of youngstock throughout the year and have a beef herd of 90 head. We also raise all of our own feed and cash crop grain to sell, all together we run 800 acres. There isan't a day that goes by that I don't put on something Carhart!! When we had 15 days in January that were -20 and below, my heavy carhart jacket and carhart bibs were the only thing to keep me warm. My whole family is a strong believer in this line on clothing. I also have two coats that I wear for good(not in the barn) and they are both carhart. I love the your black Artic waterproof jacket!! All my friends can't believe that it's carhart brand!
My name is Alex Thomas and I'm from Waterbury, VT.
I live in Vermont and I have been working on a dairy farm for three years now and everyday I come home smelling BAD. I was hoping that you could make me a logger style boot that has rubber around the bottom and on the toe so that the manure will not disintegrate the leather.
