My Tough Job: Dairy Farmer

Thursday, April 2, 2009 by Tough Jobs

My name is Krista Karas and I'm from Pine City, MN.

My "Tough Job," is being a full time dairy farmer on my parents dairy farm. It is a family owned and opereated farm. My day starts out at 4:30 a.m. in the morning. We are milking 80 holsteins, we raise about 160 head of youngstock throughout the year and have a beef herd of 90 head. We also raise all of our own feed and cash crop grain to sell, all together we run 800 acres. There isan't a day that goes by that I don't put on something Carhart!! When we had 15 days in January that were -20 and below, my heavy carhart jacket and carhart bibs were the only thing to keep me warm. My whole family is a strong believer in this line on clothing. I also have two coats that I wear for good(not in the barn) and they are both carhart. I love the your black Artic waterproof jacket!! All my friends can't believe that it's carhart brand!
